TEHRAN – Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Sunday voiced his deep regret over a terrorist attack on a bus carrying Iranian pilgrims in the Iraqi city of Balad, which led to the death and injury of a number of them.

In a statement, Qassemi strongly condemned the “brutal” and “inhumane” attack, saying Iran’s Foreign Ministry and its embassy in Baghdad are looking into the incident and the condition of the wounded, the Foreign Ministry website reported.

The terrorists “think they can damage the strong bonds between the Iranian and Iraqi nations by committing such inhumane crimes, but they won’t achieve their ominous goals,” he stated.
